Hometown Celebrations

May brought us an early crop of strawberries and a joyful celebration, as our own Rebekah Alstede followed in her Dad’s footsteps and graduated from Delaware Valley University, with dual bachelor’s degrees in Agribusiness and Sustainable Agriculture. Rebekah also held the honor to be one of the four student commencement speakers and joins the farm production team full-time this summer.

Farmer Kurt and Rebekah continued taking footsteps together as they walked down the aisle at her recent wedding on the farm. All were delighted at welcoming another big celebration with the recent nuptials of Rebekah to Devon Modery on June 10th. Our entire crew was busy through May and June, ensuring all of the preparations were just right. The artfully catered food was prepared by our Chefs in our farm kitchen utilizing much of our homegrown produce, keeping it farm-to-table. The wedding guests soaked up the beautiful farm atmosphere and the truly majestic views as the couple pronounced their wedding vows atop the Christmas Tree Barn before proceeding to the wedding reception hosted in the beautiful Harvest Hall for a night of wonderful festivity.

Rebekah, the eldest of the Alstede children, is poised to help manage the business now that she has graduated by learning all aspects of the business starting with production. She aims to continue growing healthy fruits and vegetables while enhancing areas of the business with her education, knowledge of technology, and instincts of a second-generation farmer. The groom, Devon Modery, grew up in nearby Bergen County, New Jersey, and is an electrician working in the local IBEW Union 164. Devon loves being a part of this farm family and enjoys the scenic views while paramotoring over some of our farmland. Kurt & Mary Alstede, and all of us on the farm, are so excited about this union and wish the very happy couple many years of love and happiness together!
