Our new Pizza Truck is definitely “knead-to-know news” and takes farm-to-table to a whole new level. The wood-fired pizza oven is the main feature of the new Food Truck and is handcrafted by artisans in Tuscany Italy. This pizza oven provides authentic open-hearth cooking opening up a new world of possibilities for our guests to enjoy delicious fresh food offerings and eat in the season when you visit or are just in the neighborhood craving great farm-inspired pizza. Named “The Ripe Tomato” the truck is situated in the food court area on our farm and is an iconic tomato red color.
The Perfect Slice
We chose Mugnaini Pizza Ovens over all others for their high-quality design and top-notch components including the world-famous Valoriani firebrick floor. This firebrick floor is made of a porous material allowing the transference of heat and air to create the perfect crust making our crust the perfect canvas for introducing freshly harvested fruits and vegetables in season. Our entire team is excited to take our food on the farm to the next level with this all-new food truck!
Our Pizza Can’t Be Topped
The new pizza truck is spearheaded by Chef John-Paul Androncini, food and beverage manager at Alstede Farms. Our team took a trip to California this winter to Mugnaini Pizza School to learn how to master the art of maximizing flavors and achieving the perfect crust every time using wood-fired capabilities. The crew of John-Paul, Sindy, and Melainia spent time at the pizza school making and testing these creations in preparation for our pizza truck opening that took place this Spring.
Our Pizza truck, The Ripe Tomato was unveiled at our Easter & Springtime Family Festival earlier this month and was met with rave reviews. Plans for the pizza truck include offering fresh hot pizza that will consist of a variety of seasonal produce fresh from the farm expanding the farm-to-table guest experience. You can enjoy pizza from The Ripe Tomato pizza truck on weekends right now from 11-5 with the possibility of expanding our hours of operation on weekdays once our season is underway with pick your own strawberries in June. Look for various pizza offerings throughout the season, including a selection of farm-fresh toppings. First in season is our homegrown asparagus, followed by other farm-fresh produce including spinach, leeks, kale, beets, tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, and so much more. The pizza truck offerings don’t just stop at traditional toppings, we plan to also include dessert pizza with berries or cherries and maybe even a grilled fruit pizza. Yum.
