- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Alstede Farms honey
- 1 tablespoon water
How to Make Strawberry Compote
A compote is a simple fruit topping made by gently cooking fresh fruit until it softens and releases its natural juices.
- Combine strawberries, lemon juice, honey, and water in a small saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- As the berries soften, gently mash some with the back of a spoon while leaving others whole for texture.
- Continue cooking until the mixture becomes glossy and slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Farm Tip: Strawberry compote can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 5 days. Enjoy it on pancakes, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, ice cream, or cake.
Directions
- Toast or lightly grill slices of sourdough bread until golden brown.
- Spread generously with Lancaster Dairy Farm Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread or softened Honey Goat Cheese.
- Spoon the strawberry compote over the top.
- Finish with a drizzle of Alstede Farms honey.
- Garnish with fresh mint, basil or thyme if desired.
