Know Your Farmer. Trust Your Food.

Celebrate National Farmers Market Week, August 2–8, 2026

National Farmers Market Week is the perfect time to celebrate the connection between local farmers and the communities they nourish. Here on our farm, we’ve proudly embraced the message “Know Your Farmer. Trust Your Food.” throughout the summer because it reflects what we believe every day. When you buy directly from a local farm, you know where your food comes from, how it’s grown, and the people who work hard to produce it. We couldn’t think of a more fitting message to celebrate National Farmers Market Week and the important role farmers markets play in connecting communities with fresh, local food.

At Alstede Farms, we’re proud to bring the freshest seasonal harvest to communities throughout New Jersey and New York. From sweet Jersey corn and vine-ripened tomatoes to peppers, eggplant, peaches, garlic, herbs, and more, our produce is harvested at peak freshness and delivered directly to our farm markets and farmers’ market locations.

Getting to know your farmer goes beyond a single shopping trip. A visit to the farm allows you to see firsthand where your food is grown, meet the people who care for the land, and experience the changing seasons through pick-your-own crops, family-friendly activities, and educational experiences. It’s a chance to reconnect with agriculture and gain a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into every harvest.

Another great way to build that connection is by becoming a member of our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. CSA members enjoy a season-long partnership with the farm, receiving a weekly share of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables while supporting local agriculture. Along the way, members discover new varieties, seasonal recipes, storage tips, and the satisfaction of eating with the seasons.

Even a weekly stop at one of our farm markets can become a meaningful tradition. As you get to know our team, you’ll find they’re always happy to recommend the freshest produce, share cooking ideas, suggest new varieties to try, and help you select the perfect ingredients for your family’s meals. Those personal conversations create a shopping experience that’s difficult to find anywhere else.

Shopping locally offers benefits far beyond exceptional flavor. Every purchase helps preserve farmland, supports local jobs, strengthens the regional economy, and keeps fresh, nutritious food close to home. When you choose local, you’re investing in your community and helping family farms continue to thrive for generations to come.

With more than 16 farmers markets throughout New Jersey and New York, along with our farm markets in Chester, Bridgewater, Jefferson/Wharton, and Chester/Mendham, there’s a good chance we’re in your neighborhood. Whether you visit us at a farmers market, explore the farm, join our CSA, or make our farm market part of your weekly routine, we invite you to experience the difference that comes from knowing the people who grow your food.

This National Farmers Market Week, take the opportunity to connect with your local farmer, ask questions, discover what’s in season, and enjoy the freshest harvest the region has to offer.

Know Your Farmer. Trust Your Food. It’s more than a statement; it’s an important relationship that begins with one visit and grows with every season.
