Slow Cooker Apple Butter

6 ½ pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced (about 15 apples, any variety will do)
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup light brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Small pinch ground cloves
¼ teaspoon salt

Place apples in slow cooker. Mix the remaining ingredients in a small bowl and sprinkle over the apples and then stir to combine.  Cook on low for 10 hours.

Using a potato masher or immersion blender, break up the apples to desired consistency. Cook 2 more hours.  If you would like thicker apple butter, set the lid ajar and cook to desired consistency.

Allow to cool and then spoon into jars.  Store in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 2 months.
